What is your average turnaround time?

We ask that everyone gives us two weeks from the time we receive the equipment. Most repairs are completed in a week or less, but sometimes shit happens.

Where is Rude Boy Small Engine Repair located?

Rude Boy is located approximately two miles from Ivy Rd when you turn on Tucker Rd. We are on the same road as the Simpson USPS office. Our address is 2838B Edwards Drive, PO Box 162, Simpson, North Carolina 27879.

What payment methods do you accept?

We keep it simple — cash, credit, and debit cards are all welcome.

We also accept checks, but fair warning: you'll need 7 pieces of ID, four times the bill amount in collateral, and we're going to need your firstborn child as a backup.

One thing to note: card payments do incur a 3% convenience fee. Want to avoid it? Cash is always king.

How does pickup and delivery work?

Simple. We come to you, grab your equipment, fix it, and bring it back.

Extra miles: $5.25 per mile beyond 10

We handle about 10–15 pickups and deliveries every week, so this is a well-oiled process.

How often should I have my lawn mower serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend changing your oil and filters every 50 hours of use or once a year, whichever comes first.

What does a full service/tune-up cost, and what’s included?

Here’s our full-service pricing:

What’s included for mowers: a multi-point inspection, oil change, oil/air/fuel filters, spark plug, grease fittings, tire pressure check, deck leveling, charging system check, battery load test, and a pressure wash.

For 2-stroke equipment: air/fuel filters, spark plug, and a full blow-off.

What if my equipment isn’t worth fixing?

Honest answer: we'll tell you. After the diagnostic, if the repair cost doesn't make sense for the value of the equipment, we'll say so clearly — no pressure to proceed.

Diagnostic fee: $57.50 + tax.

If you move forward with the repair, that $57.50 is applied directly toward your bill. If you don't, you only pay the diagnostic fee — no hidden charges, no runaround.

We also offer eco-friendly equipment recycling, so your old machine doesn't just end up in a landfill.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes — and we mean it.

Veterans & active military: 10% off labor + 5% off full-service packages
First responders (firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement): same deal
Seniors (65+): same deal

What brands and equipment do you work on?

Pretty much everything with a small engine. That includes:

Mowers: John Deere, Husqvarna, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, TORO, Craftsman, Honda, Ariens, eXmark, SCAG, Gravely, Ferris, and many more

Go-karts & mini bikes: Coleman (we’re a Coleman Preferred Vendor), plus most other brands

Is there a guarantee on repairs?

Yes — 30-day satisfaction guarantee on all repairs. If something we fixed isn’t right, we take full responsibility and make it right. No arguments, no runaround.

Other than lawn mowers, what types of equipment do you repair?

Rude Boy Small Engine Repair offers a wide range of equipment repair services. We repair and service everything from line trimmers (weed eaters) and chainsaws to commercial zero turns. If it has a small combustion engine on it, we can fix it.

Do you sharpen lawnmower blades?

We are more than happy to change your lawnmower blades for you. However, we do not offer blade sharpening for liability reasons.

Will you bypass safety switches on my mower?

NO! If a machine comes in with bypassed switches, we won't work on it until all safety equipment is in working order.

My mower sat all winter and won’t start. Is that fixable?

Almost always, yes. This is actually our most common call at the start of spring. Fuel goes stale, carburetors corrode and gum up, and batteries die over winter. In most cases we can get it running again with a carburetor replacement, fresh fuel, and a tune-up. Bring it in (or we’ll pick it up) and we’ll diagnose it fast.

Do you offer rental lawn mowers?

No, we do not currently offer rental lawn mowers.
